Overview Provides professional advice and guidance to line management and assists in the resolution of human resources matters. Overall this position works to reduce the Human Resources related risk to the organization, to ensure a fair and equitable workplace for employees and to work with management to continuously improve the employee experience.
Responsibilities • Proactively consults with all levels of people managers on a regular basis to ensure that HR policies & practices are being adhered to and that effective HR planning is taking place. Includes performance management, change management, employment equity, employee relations, and leadership development.
• Provides professional advice and guidance to employees who wish to discuss work related issues such as the relationship between themselves and their people manager and/or colleagues, leaves of absence, performance management, conflict management, harassment, etc.
• Administers and reports on the employee voice. This includes the annual culture survey, exit interviews for employees leaving the organization, ongoing employee relations issues, and employment equity.
• Manages high risk employee relations matters to completion to minimize the risk to the organization. This includes harassment investigations, escalated employee relations issues, law suits.
• Implement and provide ongoing support for new HR initiatives /programs
• Provides input to Human Resources projects as required. This includes policy rewrites and HR law research.
• Ensure all HR administrative functions are completed efficiently i.e. tracking of Employee forms, and processing to payroll, faxing, filing, etc.
• Responsible for HR related reporting as required i.e. H&S, Security, etc.
• Conducts exit interviews
• Coordinate employee programs
Requirements • University degree in Business/ Human Resources or related discipline, relevant Human Resources Professional designation is an asset.
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years experience ( 3 to 5 years directly related experience in employee relations )
• Thorough knowledge of current employment legislation ( Employment Standards, Human Rights)
• Ability to demonstrate professional maturity and able to act as a change leader
• Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities
• Effective communication, presentation and written skills
• Strong strategic relationship building skills
• Flexibility to respond to a demanding and developing environment
Minimum School Required University - Masters
