SUMMARY
The Regional Sales Manager’s primary responsibility is to plan and achieve agreed annual sales for the region through effective
execution of brand and trade strategies and proper control of allocated trade spend budgets. This will involve coordinating all sales
force activities to ensure that both key account and traditional trade business plans are fully supported.
In addition to their overall regional responsibilities, they will also form part of a sales management team responsible for generating
new ideas and improvements in the way in which we will operate. They will also be responsible for identifying and developing
people within their region.
SCOPE/ DIMENSIONS OF ROLE
• Build and maintain a sound working relationship with key personnel with all accounts he/she is responsible for. This
involves regular business reviews, category reviews as well as involving all other available resources within Reckitt
Benckiser
• Provide implementation support to the National Key Account Manager in ensuring the national account plans and trade
activities are executed effectively at the regional level to support the overall business objectives
• Attend regular sales management meetings to review monthly business performances against targets, operational issues
and share learning’s with other Regional Sales managers
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Develop and implement regional business plans in accordance to trade strategies and marketing objectives
• Responsible for the operational efficiency of respective branches in the region, including control and monitoring of
overheads and expenditure on a monthly basis Accountable for sales performance and collection targets of the region on a
monthly and annual basis
• Responsible for overall collection targets and adherence to the credit management policies of Reckitt Benckiser in the
region
• Accountable for achievement of distribution targets for respective brands, and effective stock distribution and stock
rotation in the region
• Plan, supervise and control trade marketing spend of the region
• Build and manage business relationships with the appointed Master Distributors • Provide leadership and coaching to sales
teams in the various branches of the region
• Monitor market performance on a regular basis and provide constant and speedy feedback on competitor's activities
KEY CHALLENGES
• Working together with respective DSMs to achieve company sales objectives and ensure all company polices are being
implemented and adhere to at all times at the branch level Accountable for regional performance in the area of sales
objectives, TM Budget spend, trade returns, debts exposure for both key account and traditional trade Liaising with DSMs
to ensure operational efficiency of branches at all times, and ensure branch overhead expenditures are being sustained at
budget level.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 5 years FMCG experience in a sales environment
• MBA or Masters ideally in a business related subject – from a recognized University

• Tenacious and resilient, driven to achieve even when faced with obstacles
• Leadership and interpersonal skills capable of building strong working relationships and influencing and customers and
internal teams

• Strong analytical skills with ability to develop strategies, tactics and measurable implementation
• Ability to think outside the box
• The business language in Reckitt Benckiser is English; therefore fluency in this language is essential. Fluency in other
languages(s) is advantageous
