Areas of Responsibility
   

The position of database administrator exists for Planning, Administration Maintenance, Monitoring and development of database(s) along with the development of policies and procedures related to security, data consistency, Concurrent user access and disaster recovery.

Principal Functions:

1. Allocates system storage and plans future storage requirements for the database system.
2. Installs and upgrades oracle server, clients and application development programs.
3. Controls and monitors user access to the database.
4. Performs database optimize, tuning and performance monitoring and suggests recommendations for upgrades and enhancements.
5. Develops and oversees database backups, restores, and disaster recovery plans.
6. Develops and maintains administration guide used by developers.
7. Provides appropriate tools, procedures and facilities for creating and maintaining the entity data enterprise model.
8. Installs and configures configure database server.
9. Assists programming teams by developing databases, triggers, store procedures, and other development related tasks.
10. Creates primary objects (schemata, tables, views;, indexes) once application developers have designed an application.
