Vopium was founded in 2006. The idea of making expensive international calls much cheaper fast became a reality with the help of skilled engineers and software developers in Pakistan.
Vopium was launched in a test version in 2007 after only a year's development. Without any marketing Vopium had, within a couple of months, almost 3000 active test users.
Vopium is the first Pakistani entity that is listed on NYSE Euronext Stock Exchange (one of the largest in the world).
The number of products from the Vopium family is increasing. There are products that ensure a fixed low price for international calls, products that provide almost unlimited talk time to a number of countries for a very low price, low price international calls from landlines or low prices for text messages (SMS) and a call back product, which allows you to make cheap calls when you are abroad.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- As a Perl Developer, you will be involved with the architecture, design, development and enhancement and support of the product
- Facilitation in performing impact analysis against software change requests
- Facilitation in developing specifications and creating other process artifacts
- Facilitate in establishment of best practices related to software engineering
- Facilitate in process definition and process improvement
- Conducting research on tools, technologies, domains and solutions relevant to the assigned product(s) and/or project(s)
Required Skills, Knowledge and Education:
- At least bachelors in computer sciences or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Application Development with specific focus on:
Perl and Mod Perl template development - Strong in Database and SQL
- Strong in Linux and C++
- Demonstrated competence in Linux Distributions: Red Hat, Fedora, Cent OS
- Excellent understanding of common LINUX packages such as:
BIND, APACHE, SSL, SSH, etc.
- Knowledge and experience in using source control tools such at GIT, SVN, or CVS or development projects
- Experience using Postfix
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) a plus
- Strong problem solving skills
- Strong communication skills: verbal and written
- Strong team player, good work ethics, commitment to quality and team work
